Keeping a ham radio logbook4/1/2024 OTOH When 2m was threatened in France, the outcry was huge, but probably because the amount of 2m infrastructure and agreements is immense. Not much of a public fight is being put up against the 3.3GHz sellout since under the surface we hams agree that we don’t do much on that band. Instead they got it to be prepared (preppers), to gain some sort of clout, to use it as a tool (like for HAB) or some other non-traditional reason that doesn’t present itself as QSOs.Īnd yes, the danger of spectrum loss is quite present but the impact is so far pretty low. The real perceived problem is low levels of activity- people get their license and then drop interest, or never actually intended on rag chewing or repeater ops. We can all see that license numbers are at an all time high and constantly growing. I wonder if there’s real data to back this up.
